Tuning Fork Drawing[edit]

Hello, Im interested in emailing with you about how you've made that beautiful tuning fork drawing: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Tuning_fork_on_carbon_black.jpg

I'm an artist in Brooklyn NY and would like to try to make some drawings like that! Is the carbon sprinkled onto the glass? How do you make the impression of the wavelength without putting pressure on the fork? When I try the vibration is stopped by putting pressure onto the glass surface. Thanks very much, Luke 19:18, 24 March 2012 (UTC)lstettner (talk) 19:18, 24 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Lukestettner, thanks for your request. The glass was held over a burning candle until the whole glass was black. The trick with the tuning fork is that not the actual tip of the fork carves the figures on the glass surface, but a metal needle on top of the tip. Here you can see a picture of the needle.
