Original?[edit]

This painting has striking differences from the original by Cézanne, that can be seen on the following links: [1] [2]. Is this also by Cézanne, or a reproduction by another painter? Capmo (talk) 14:53, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I suppose it's not unusual for a painter to try different versions of the same scene. This appears to be the one held at the Courtauld Institute of Art in London[3][4], whereas the other one you see would seem to be the one at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris.[5][6] Carl Lindberg (talk) 20:26, 12 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Indeed. Take the two versions of Portrait of Dr. Gachet by Picasso, for example. Both authentic, same scene, but very different compositions. Huntster (t @ c) 04:36, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you both for the links confirming the authenticity, it's indeed just a case of different versions. Capmo (talk) 05:31, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
