Colours[edit]

I pressume blue was chosen, because of its connotation with water and therefore flooding. Do you think a different colour might be appropriate for Essex, as it was damaged by a tornado and not flooding. The same might also apply for some southern counties too that was severely damaged by gales. Jolly Janner (talk) 22:58, 21 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've updated the image, what do you think? --AxG (talk) 00:35, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps a seperate colour for Essex? I don't think it was flooded and the key currently states that it was flooded. Maybe orange? There might have been a tornado in Suffolk, but I'll look into that and notify you if it's true. Jolly Janner (talk) 00:40, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Ok Essex is now orange, the only problem is that the image is now on the main page and so the Wikipedia versions and Wiki Commons versions are now different so this image will not appear on Wikipedia until the image is removed. --AxG (talk) 11:03, 22 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The whole south of England and Ireland (those currently striped blue and red) should simply be coloured red. As it stands it's saying "Areas affected by flooding" and "Areas affected by flooding and strong winds", the second colour making the first redundant for the area. I can understand striping where deaths have occurred as you need to signify something different, but this "floods/floods & strong winds" striping is unnecessary. 86.140.150.73 11:30, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I intended the stripes to show an overlap between areas affeced by floods and areas affected by strong winds. Jolly Janner (talk) 16:06, 23 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
