Rename request denied for the moment[edit]

@Takabeg: @Mavrikant:

There has been a rename request for this image. The request was not supported by evidence, and being a significant change it should be discussed prior to implementation. Once that conversation has taken place, then we can work out whether the image should be renamed.  — billinghurst sDrewth 00:38, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Billinghurst: Fikriye hanım committed suicide in 1924. This photo taken in 1926 at the ceremony in Ankara. İf you click "1926 – Ankara'da bir törende. Arkada milletvekili Fuat Bulca görülmektedir"(1926 - A ceremony in Ankara, behind member of parliament Fuat Bulca) in here, you can see orjinal of this picture.
Fikriye Hanım (left)
Rukiye Hanım(middle)
So, can you change it into "Mustafa Kemal and Rukiye.jpg"? --Mavrikant (talk) 06:33, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
That's great Mavrikant. If you have need to do other "fact disputed" renames, the template takes an extra parameter and you can add the evidence into the request to expedite the matter. Plus it is always great to have something like this on the talk page for reference for those who come after us.  — billinghurst sDrewth 12:09, 28 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

1. According to the Ministry of Culture (file), 1926 – Ankara’da bir törende. Ankada milletvekili Fuat Bulca görülmektedir. 1926 - (Mustafa Kemal) at a ceremony in Ankara. The deputy of Ankara Fuat Bulca is also seen.) There is no mention of that woman.

2. A daily newspaper Yeni Şafak (Mustafa Kemal Paşa'yla evlenmeye gidiyorum) claims she should be Fikriye who died in Memleket Hospital (present-day Ankara Numune Hospital) in 31 May 1924 after the shooting incident (21 May 1924, some claims she committed suicide, some claims she was shot by bodyguards of Mustafa Kemal.

This women in photograph wears tradisional Islamic costume and scarf. In Turkey the Hat law was enacted in 1925. So I doubt this photograph was taken in 1926. Cf File:Hat Law Izmir.jpg

BTW who claims this women should be Rukiye ? As long as I understand, there is no proof for both Fikriye and Rukiye. Takabeg (talk) 04:18, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

That woman is Ataturk's wife Latife Uşşaki. (check her photos) But the source is not mentioned her. Yet, I think we can change that photo's name.Yagmurlukorfez (talk) 16:12, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Ps: I'am not quite sure, but that is the best possibility.Yagmurlukorfez (talk) 16:29, 29 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Turkish women in the 1920s[edit]

I added the pic to Category:Women of Turkey in the 1920s because everything I could find in the net shows this is a 1923, 1924 or 1926 photograph. Now the interesting thing is not only who the lady accompanying Atatürk is: His wife Latife (not possible in 1926, divorced already), cousin Fikriye (not possible after mid-1924, the time of her passing away) or Rukiye? The complete version (original) of the file shows another young woman, behind, with no cover at her head. Who is she? As she is one of the six people on a special protocol "balcony" (or whatever it is called) at an official ceremony, she must also be someone notable. We should upload this pic to Commons. --E4024 (talk) 08:10, 3 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
