Since both of those have been deleted, the solution is to use {{Border}}. {{Border|[[:Image:Flag of South Korea.svg|75px]]}}, for example, produces border|75px. Angr 12:12, 30 August 2006 (UTC)

Need 22-px png version

There used to be a 22-px .png rendering of this file, which is used in several association football-related pages, such as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2014_FIFA_World_Cup_qualification_–_AFC_Fourth_Round. The fact that this .png rendering no longer seems to exist causes the flag to not display on that file (and several others that use the "fb" template.)

I renamed it back to the original name until we discuss it. With Delinker down and the move reason name being woefully incorrect, and also you have the ROK and the DPRK (both having Republic of Korea in their name), we have to discuss it. User:Zscout370 ^{(Return fire)} 03:22, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Yeah that's nice but this back and forth renaming is really screwing up articles globally. Please try to consider the number of articles (MILLIONS) using this flag! Before the first rename I had to upload a local copy @it.wiki with the old name (current one) in order to fix thousands of pages, so Zscout370 is definitely right imho. Both Koreas claims to be the "only and true" Korea, aik North Korea doesn't even longer use the form "popular republic of Korea" so we should simply ignore their claims and use a clearly disambuating from, like South Korea/North Korea is. --Vituzzu (talk) 15:36, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

The user that asked for the move has asked for similar moves on very highly used image and it was turned down for the same reason that I had to revert the move (and it was another user or admin that rejected it). This file was not move protected, but I believe it should be (and I will put it in place). As for what needs to replaced, I will help fix those using AWB once I get a second to download it. Colours

Hello, Although I think evidence points that the colours were modified in 2011 or 2013 in the Act on the Flag of the Republic of Korea, personally, I think the current flags (including official government flags) have the shade of the old SVG. The shades that User:Supreme Dragon used seem to be from a booklet issued by the government here [1]. The shades seem to be optimised for printing and may not be official, or for official computer display. Even the flag on the upper left corner of the government's website seem to use a darker shade.

I will give more sources of colours when others will utilise this discussion page. I have created this thread in order to create a new space for discussion regarding the official colours, instead of going on an "edit war" that seems to have sparked. Please do mind that we are editing the shades of the flag of a sovereign state here, so I feel like apt discussions must be taken before editing. Thank you! Proposal: A more direct interpretation of colors specified in the Flag Act

This "revert war" has prompted me to interpret the colors on the legislation here [3] more directly. As you may know, the current "dark" colors that are used on the flag here are converted from CIE/Munsell to Pantone, then to RGB. This explains the darker shade. However, the official government source that I linked above and here [4] are lighter in shade. I have used two online calculators to convert the CIE and Munsell specs into RGB [5] here and [6] here. This gave me colors much closer to the ones used in the .ai and .jpg file provided by the government. However, the government files seem to have converted from CIE, to CMYK instead of RGB. Therefore, using the two calculators and a lot of clicking for the CIE calculator (Tick "Scale Y", Tick "Scale RGB" and change Adaptation to "None"), I have gotten these RGB colors for the flag:

These seem to be the most direct conversion from the official CIE specifications to unofficial RGB triplets. While these triplets are not the exact ones from the unofficial government Adobe Illustrator file, as mentioned above, it is a more direct way of conversion.

If there are anybody who has experience in this, please let me know. Hopefully this will end the edit war.

Another fact that might support my cause is that the uploaded flag of the United States on Wikimedia Commons uses colors converted directly from the CIE coordinates, instead of using Pantone approximations. w:Flag_of_the_United_States#Colors

Reepy1 -- Flag specifications are usually in terms of device-independent color systems, while computer RGB is inherently device-dependent, so there's no one single conversion to RGB which is "correct" in all circumstances. AnonMoos (talk) 01:27, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
