Colors & rays[edit]

User:BarceX, do you have a source for the claim that your shade of blue is "correct"? The previous version was the shade specified in w:Flag of Argentina, which says

"The colours are subject to discussion, and there is no official position on colour usage. The Spanish word celeste (cerulean blue) is used to describe the colour of the blue stripes. Cerulean blue is defined by Pantone as N21-01, which equals 155, 196, 226 in RGB notation."

Anyway, the color of Image:Flag of Argentina (ornamental).svg should presumably be kept in sync. dbenbenn | talk 15:15, 6 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, the colors and design are standarized by the Argentine standards institute (IRAM). You can see the official colors at:

In addition, the figure of the sun is not correct, the colors are not correct and the sun rays are not correctly aligned. All the non-straight rays must point clockwise. (excuse my bad english) BarceX 21:58, 7 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

FYI - I'm going to upload a new file based on the images at http://www.manuelbelgrano.gov.ar/bandera_colores.htm shortly. ¦ Reisio 21:12, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Done - this flag should be pretty spotless now (assuming we really prefer colors defined for web over those defined for the actual flags - maybe the web colors are really close to the PMS approximates, so it won't matter - will check later). It's possible the Sun is off center horizontally & vertically by a thousandth of a pixel or two...might check on that later if I get retardedly bored. ¦ Reisio 23:03, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ratio?[edit]

http://www.manuelbelgrano.gov.ar/bandera_colores.htm suggests a ratio of 1.6 (8:5), but en:flag of Argentina claims a ratio of 1.5 (14:9) is legislated. Has anyone a link to a copy of the legislation setting this ratio? I'll update the image's ratio if & when I find a source that seems more official than the manuelbelgrano.gov.ar page. ¦ Reisio 23:35, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

FOTW is also confused about this one, see http://fotw.vexillum.com/flags/ar.html#hw. Zach (Smack Back) 07:43, 1 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The dimensions of the bandera de ceremonia are 1,40 m : 0,90 m, which iguals the ratio 9:14 as stated in the German article about the flag de:Flagge Argentiniens. Sources:

Size of Sun[edit]

According to the sites above listed, the Sun's diameter should be 5/6 of the size of the white band, and the diameter of the face should be 2/5 of the diameter of the Sun. The current flag doesn't seem to reflect that, so if nobody comes back with a reason for it to be this size I'll upload a version with the right sizes. --TigerTjäder 06:23, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Catfix[edit]

Please change Category:Flags with sun to Category:Flags with sun, centered. The page is still protected. --Mattes (talk) 16:54, 9 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Bad drawn Sun of May[edit]

I realized that the sun of the flag in this file is really different than the real one. You can simply see that the sun shown on the page 9 of the IRAM norm D 7677 (https://www.casaespadas.com/post/normas-iram-7677-2002.pdf), has many notable differencies than the one on this file, so I request someone to change this because the file is protected and I can't overwrite it. Undertiago (talk) 03:44, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Many notable differences? Like what? This is a waste of time and there's a reason why the file hasn't been changed in over 10 years while other flags get tweaked all the time. TFerenczy (talk) 09:08, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
If you interpose the two versions of the sun, you can see that they are not the same, like here [1]. Undertiago (talk) 22:39, 29 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Undertiago I don’t think it matters. The shape of the elements are exactly the same, and pretty much everyone, even the government, will treat this file as a valid flag of Argentina. 98.213.225.105 00:17, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Undertiago Since it’s just an unlabeled drawing, don’t assume it to be completely reliable. If you zoom in, the image of the sun in the PDF is pretty jagged and low quality. Pretty much everyone would recognize even the current version of the Commons file as a valid flag of Argentina, most likely even the government.
In a nutshell, unlabeled drawings of flags are not going to be 100% reliable. Do not rely on them as sources, especially for small details. 98.213.225.105
