Territories should be highlighted[edit]

The original file was uploaded to ru-wiki by Nicolay Sidorov in this version. After that it was uploaded to commons, file in ru-wiki was deleted. Gaeser and BRUTE made some changes and highlighting became very bad (this version: colors are very similar, readers don't see differences in small map). The plan of Nicolay Sidorov was to show territories, controlled by Republic of Abkhazia and Republic of South Ossetia, no to hide it. I think, we can't change idea without permission of author. We can. It's PD - isn't it? --Gaeser (talk) 06:47, 24 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps, I didn't expresse my thought clearly. Nicolay Sidorov has uploaded some concrete image to use it in some concrete article. You can take his file, change it the way you want, and upload. But it is bad to replace the original file, that is in use in some article, by the file, that was done by the another principles. The idea of Nicolay Sidorov was to show territories of partially recognized Abkhazia and South Ossetia, that are not under control of Georgia. Colors in supposed version are chosen in such a way, that readers don't see territories of Abkhazia and South Ossetia, because colors are almost the same. If you want to upload file, that was done by the another principles, please choose another name for it. Dinamik (talk) 22:10, 25 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
A nice try. If you support the separatists, none else does. --Gaeser (talk) 03:33, 16 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]
This map gives information about de-facto situation in Caucas and is used in some articles. You can make another map, that wouldn't show de-facto information clearly and would show something else, and upload it with another name (for example - «Europe Location Georgia official borders»). I think, you should firstly discuss changing the image in discussion pages of that articles, in which image is used, because your changes are substantial. The map gives propagandistic view - and in spite of uour tries it won't become a propaganda banner.--Gaeser (talk) 16:41, 17 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

If this map gives propagandistic view, we can use it in articles with appropriate sign (for example, in article «propaganda» with «sign propagandistic map, used by Abkhazia and South Ossetia authorities») or refrain from using them generally. But we should discuss it not here, but in articles' discussions. We can't delete free images with encyclopedic information, because someone doesn't like them (see Wikipedia:Content disclaimer). The question discussed is using in articles and signs, describing the images. Dinamik (talk) 07:15, 19 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

--Nicolay Sidorov (talk) 21:09, 9 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]
