[Untitled][edit]

The title should be changed to "Emblem of Vatican City State SE.svg". The position of the keys, with the silver one in the position of honour, indicates that it is the form chosen in 1929 for the new state. See en:Papal coat of arms for illustrations showing the position of the keys when what is represented is the papacy, not the state. Lima-commons 09:35, 1 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ah! You're right! I have uploaded a copy of this image naming it Image:Emblem of Vatican City.svg. Then I've mirrored this image. I hope now the things are correct. Thanks for the input, F l a n k e r 18:20, 4 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

English Wikipedia link[edit]

It should be changed from [[Papacy]] to [[Wikipedia:Pope|Pope]]. EvP (talk) 13:18, 27 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No-permission tag[edit]

Placing of this tag seems to be completely without foundation: the creator of the image has released it into the public domain, and see Commons:Coats of arms. Esoglou (talk) 11:40, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And who exactly do you think is the originating uploader? Seems to be an attribution problem. The originating uploader is from July of 2007.--Amadscientist (talk) 19:45, 9 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Emblem of the Holy See according to heraldic sources[edit]

Reliable heraldic sources indicate that, while there was variety in the past, the coat of arms of the Holy See in recent times has the gold key in bend and the silver key in bend sinister, unlike the arrangement in the coat of arms of Vatican City State. See Donald Lindsay Galbreath, A Treatise on Ecclesiastical Heraldry (W. Heffer and Sons, 1930), p. 9; Bruno Bernhard Heim, Heraldry in the Catholic Church: Its Origin, Customs and Laws (Van Duren 1978 ISBN 9780391008731), p. 54; Heraldry Society of Great Britain; Michel Pastoureau, "Keys" in Philippe Levillain, The Papacy: An Encyclopedia (Routledge 2002 ISBN 9780415922302), vol. 2, p. 891 See also en:Coats of arms of the Holy See and Vatican City.

In accordance with these sources, the image given here is the correct form of the emblem of the Holy See, not the image given elsewhere on Commons as File:Emblem of the Holy See.svg. Esoglou (talk) 05:54, 28 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The image is wrong[edit]

The bottom of hat part is not supposed to be red. This is a common error. AManWithNoPlan (talk) 13:42, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

This is neither the w:en:flag of the Vatican, nor the w:en:coat of arms of the Vatican. Beside, previously the coat of arms of the Vaticna did have the red inside the tiara (see here). Veverve (talk) 13:57, 1 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
