Soviet zone[edit]

This image is inaccurate. It shows the borders of the western Länder correctly as they were in 1945. But in the Soviet occupied zone the borders are those of present time (these five current Länder of the ex-GDR are essentially identical but the borders in 1945 were only partially congruent).

Fixed. Thanks for pointing that out. - 52 Pickup 11:41, 7 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orange zone in north[edit]

Can someone explain what the orange areas at the top of the map are? They appear to be US zones of control, but deep within the British Zone. And what is the "hatched" blue and yellow area in the south west? 206.47.210.130 21:43, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • Those yellow areas in the north-west were part of the American zone: the state of Bremen. This city-state consists of the two separate cities of Bremen and Bremerhaven and has done since the 1820s. The Americans wanted naval access in their zone, so they took Bremen.
  • The hashed area is the Saar protectorate. It is hashed because, unlike the other zones, Saar was completely removed from Germany and became a separate country, although under French protection. In 1956 it became part of West Germany as the Saarland. 52 Pickup 07:14, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Update needed[edit]

The Map certainly needs updating, This official map on the right should be followed for 1945 - 1946, and the map on the left should be used for 1947 - 1949 visualizations. (The Saar was cut out in 1947, Western German was formed in 1949) right|thumb|500px|.

There is no way that this image should be changed to include all these other regions. This image is simply the SVG version of Image:Deutschland Besatzungszonen 1945 1946.png and so it should look the same as that, plus it is used on so many other pages.
This image was a work in progress, which is why it is not at Commons. But I just noticed that someone has thoughtlessly removed my "work in progress" tag - I quit the en-wiki some time ago and don't pay any attention to what goes on over there. I don't know if or when I will get back to work on that image. Arrange to have it deleted if it is causing trouble. I don't really care. 52 Pickup (talk) 20:11, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error[edit]

There is an error in this map: the Landkreis Lindau as well as the city of Lindau are shown as part of the American zone, but actually they were part of the French zone (the only parts of Bavaria that belonged to this zone). See Image:Deutschland Besatzungszonen 1945 1946.png with correct boundaries. --Rosenzweig (talk) 23:28, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other images are incorrect as well, e.g. Image:Map-Wuerttemberg-Baden.svg. --Rosenzweig (talk) 23:35, 20 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I had long ago corrected the assignment of the Lindau area, but simply forgot to upload the new images. Done now. 52 Pickup (talk) 20:11, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, but it seems you forgot Image:Map-GreaterHesse.svg. Regards --Rosenzweig (talk) 20:30, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Whoops. Done. - 52 Pickup (talk) 17:26, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks again :-) --Rosenzweig (talk) 21:53, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
