The map should be corrected. Rota and Moron Air Base are also beign used for the operations.--Dura-Ace (talk) 18:23, 21 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Thanks. Jolly Janner (talk) 16:23, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling[edit]

"Mediterranean Sea" is spelled incorrectly as "Mediterrenean Sea". Editør (talk) 17:33, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. It's fixed now. Jolly Janner (talk) 19:08, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

questions[edit]

Isn't better to have real text in the map? I feel it displays better at least on my firefox beta with ubuntu. Also Brega was not bombed I thing, the place on the map is Benghazi actually. Rafy (talk) 21:00, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Real text renders horribley for me on Firefox and I feel it is neccessary to convert text to objects (I'm sure most people viewing it have problems). I will change Brega to Benghazi for the next update, which will hopefully include ships. Jolly Janner (talk) 21:26, 22 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Libyan airspace[edit]

The map very prominently displays Libyan airspace. Why? Would it not be more pertinent to show the actual no-fly zone? As seen, for example, here.

Note how the no-fly zone has very little to do with Libyan airspace, covering as it does also part of Tunisian airspace, but not covering southern Libya, with the southernmost point of the heptagon placed so as to cover Sabha. --Dbachmann (talk) 17:21, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

This is a very good map for the locations of ships as well. Jolly Janner (talk) 19:30, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

French Navy[edit]

According [en], Franch Navy have 4 frigates, un replenishment tanker and one air craft carrier operating. It could be nice to see more green ships on this map. Thanks. Hatonjan (talk) 06:52, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have added them, but see below as many ships are soon to be retracted. Jolly Janner (talk) 19:54, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Complet map in Al Jazeera[edit]

Look at 1:52 pm here. Maybe that is useful. Thor8 (talk) 16:24, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Italian Navy[edit]

Italian Navy has got 4 ships in the operation Unified Protector (air transport Garibaldi, frigate Libeccio, auxiliary ship Etna and patrol boat Comandante Bettica) as you can read here (in italian, sorry). Can anyone draw them? --Bonty (talk) 14:14, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

There is also air transport Cavour (see this: this) Techman84 (talk) 17:46, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No, read another time: "Eppure la Cavour, trasferita all'inizio della crisi libica da La Spezia a Taranto, se ne sta in porto". Cavour is just in the port and it's not in the sea! --Bonty (talk) 20:02, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to remove individual ships involved in the naval blockake and only add the four ships which were involved in the actual "military intervention" i.e. bombardment of Libyan air defnces. As a results, there will be no Italian ships on the map. If there are aircraft carriers, which are acting as bases to the aircraft involved in the intervention then they too should be added, but I need some proof that they were being used, rather than just waiting around in the sea. Jolly Janner (talk) 19:54, 28 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Actually they're just patrolling the Mediterranean to enforce the naval block. --Bonty (talk) 06:33, 29 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Italian Navy Added[edit]

I've added Italian Navy to the original map: [look here]. I cannot send it directy to the original image page (I think because my account is not older than 4 years). I hope someone who has rights, would send it for me. Thanks.

See above. There is only one air transport. --Bonty (talk) 20:03, 26 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm considering the removal of many of the ships, as there are just too many of them involed, with the possibility of just including ships, which have actively engaged in the bombardment of Libyan defences. Jolly Janner (talk) 21:27, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with you. NATO maritime forces include more than 25 ships... ([1]) --Bonty (talk) 21:53, 27 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Strikes on targets in Zintan & Nafusa mountains[edit]

Unless the strike symbol is used exclusively for naval strikes (it isn't clear), I think that a few such symbols should be placed in the Nafusa mountains, as NATO has been striking targets near Zintan (especially) as well as Nalout and Yafran. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 22:26, 7 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Brega should be added as well. ~~ Lothar von Richthofen (talk) 10:18, 10 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
