The painting seems to be undated, but since the artist died in Feb. 1902, it must be before then.
However, I have a nagging suspicion that this isn't a Bierstadt painting at all despite the signature. His paintings were for a time (pre-1902) immensely popular and commanded record prices for the period. It's not hard to imagine another artist trying to cash in on that fame and money and forging the signature. The style of this painting differs from the rest enough to raise suspicions for me. --Rsberzerker (talk) 14:46, 29 June 2011 (UTC)
