Instructions about the revised montage picture

[edit]

Apparently the old pic for tiananmen is a terrible night view lack of authenticity and suspesous for diminishing China's capital city on purpose. It was already nominated for deletion since April. Check the talk page. Also, the bird nest pic over exaggerates the area of the square which is absolutely losing focus in such a tiny little thumbnail view. The new montage picture is more colorful, energetic and positive, which better illustrates today's new Beijing. For the bird nest, cropping is necessary to show it clearly in such a small picture. Notice that this montage file is already shared by too many articles, changing the layout/length-width ratio/content of the picture will make the caption invalid and bring troubles to related articles in all languages. That's why the new solution is worked out like this. Pontmarcheur (talk) 06:43, 26 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The new Bird's Nest picture is cropped very badly in the montage as you can't even see the whole structure (the left side is gone), or get a sense of the overall shape of the structure, which is what the Stadium is known for! The juxtaposition is also not good in the new montage. I checked the revision history, and yes the montage was nominated for deletion in April, but that's for a copyrighted image of Beijing CBD that since has been removed and is not even on the template any more.--Teamjenn (talk) 18:26, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of arguing about the poor tiny picture, I re-made the whole montage file with good resolution. Old bird nest photo is reserved as an answer to your concern (very few good alternative pictures available in Wikimedia actually). Pontmarcheur (talk) 03:21, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
