My belief (from personal photos I have of Alexei Alexeevich) is that in this photograph "1897.Ha Oxote" 3rd from the left is Alexei Alexeevich and 4th from the left his father Grand Duke Alexei. Can this be checked and if so can it be changed ? I have since viewed photos of Ernst-Ludwig of Hesse-Darmstadt. Ernst Ludwig and Alexei have a similar appearance, both being first cousins to the Tzar Nicholas. Alexei however is six foot one a half inches tall and Ernst ludwig is shorter, a similer hieght to the Tzar. The man 3rd from the left is much taller than all the other men in the photograph. In another photograph I have Alexei Alexeevich has also dropped his hip, as in this photograph conscious of his height, so as not to appear too tall. I can attach some of my photos if you email me.

I have since seen a second photo of the hunt and the man 3rd from the left is facing the camera and looks very much like Ernest Ludwig also a caption naming the man beside him as Alfred Duke of Edinbrough with which I agree. Thus I withdraw my dispute and I apologise for any inconvenience it may have caused
