I very much doubt that the person depicted here is Ernest Augustus I of Hanover. The hair style, the uniform, all appear to belong to the period around 1850 (e.g. [1] or [2]), not the 1770s. It is more likely to be Ernest Augustus, Crown Prince of Hanover, or someone else altogether. Constantine ✍ 16:39, 20 June 2010 (UTC)

1771 was the birthyear of Ernest Augustus I, so I don't think the name of the file is supposed to be a dating for the piucture itself (since it shows a grown man). Still: even it this would be Ernest Augustus in his 30s or 40s the uniform looks too modern. /FredrikT (talk) 16:05, 28 February 2018 (UTC)
