Description
English: * Cover design by Frank Parker includes drawing of a woman getting off a streetcar as the conductor offers her a ticket.
  • On cover: Composed expressly for the New York Sunday World. Published as the supplement to the New York World, Sunday Oct. 22, 1899, in the World Album of ten great songs. Part 8.
  • Descriptive subtitle below caption title: A song of the day.
  • Lacking credit for words; Below caption title: Theme by Leo Feist.
  • On cover: Sung with great success by Miss Bonnie Thornton. Cover includes photograph of Bonnie Thornton.
  • Summary: The narrator mentions earlier times when people rode with horse cars; today everyone uses the trolley cars; a woman got on a car, trying to look her best and finally found a seat, only to have the conductor tell her to transfer; the conductor left his job and got a job as a janitor; having to evict a family, he used the same language as on a trolley and told them to transfer.
