Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Wye Oak, in Talbot County, Maryland, once stood as the largest White Oak in America. The 450 year old tree fell on June 6, 2002 during a severe thunderstorm. The tree measured 31 feet 8 inches in circumference and had an average crown spread of 119 feet. This memorial has been erected just feet from where the mighty oak once stood. Other parts of the tree have been used for various civic and charitable causes including the construction of a desk for the Governor of Maryland.
