'A side-by-side comparison of the attached images (Christie's London, 03/12/2008, n°210) of heads of the sitter in the Nattier et of the central figure in the Louvre miniature confirms that they are related works: virtually the same style of the coiffure et hair adornment, white ribbon, etc. The comparison also suggests that it is the same depicted person. Since the sitter in the Nattier is not Louis XV's daughter, consequently, the Louvre miniature is not a portrait of Mesdames de France (in the Paris 1906 exh. cat entry, cat. no. 479, as « [...] au milieu, Mme Louise en Terpsichore [...] » (p. 84).'
