English: Embarquement sur les navires, début juin 1944 - Operation Overlord .

Au premier plan, trois soldats américains dans leur Half-track M3A1 équipé d'une mitrailleuse M2 HB Cal.50. L'un compulse le petit manuel de français publié à l'usage des GI's voir ici: www.flickr.com/photos/mlq/1649087251/ A noter deux détails sur cette image : le Half-track est équipé de son kit de franchissement, dont on peut voir le tuyau d'alimentation en air du carburateur sur le côté gauche de la photo et la peinture vésicante de détection des gaz appliquée sur le capot du Half-track que l'on peut voir en bas, au centre, près du genou du soldat qui lit le " French phrase book". Au fond un autre HT M3A1 revêtu comme le premier d'un filet de camouflage. La Manche en arrière plan. Localisation : Falmouth ou Weymouth Portland si Omaha Dortmouth si Utah Référence : livre First US Army, Heimdal, 2004 en page 2. II s'agirait du Cpl John Hartlage de Bress (Illinois), du Cpl Edward L Smith de St Paul (Minnesota) et du Pvt George Roberts de Herndon (Virginie).
