Description
English: Parmi les très rares clichés en couleurs du débarquement celui-ci a été pris par l'équipe du Signal Corps composée d'Ardean Miller et Steve Stevens. Ces hommes sont les seuls photographes officiels employant la couleur en Europe. La majorité de leurs archives disparaîtra après la guerre, suite à la mort de Stevens dans un accident d'avion.

La plage est peut-être celle d'Utah. Le T/5 à droite, chaussé de bottes de saut, porte à l'épaule l'insigne des Engineer Special Brigade, voir ici : www.flickr.com/photos/mlq/2220593712/ 

il s'agirait alors de la 1st ESB. L'homme à l'arrière avec un arc de cercle bleu, peint sur son casque de la 1st ESB, unité ayant débarqué et opérant sur Utah Beach, tandis que le T/5 à droite appartient à une des composantes non identifiée de cette brigade

Cet insigne bleu n'est pas propre aux NCDU, qui n'arborent que la bande grise de la Navy. Les sacs sur lesquels est assis le soldat de droite ne sont pas des charges d'explosif. A gauche un Sgt. Référence: page 245 du livre: Jour J à l'aube de Jonathan Gawne chez Histoire & Collections, 1998.
