Description
English: Une rue de Cherbourg après la libération, des civils et des militaires, le drapeau français est au-dessus de "La Maison du Prisonnier", organisme vichyste.

Il s'agit de la rue du Château (l'une des actuelles rues piétonnes du centre-ville), en allant de la place De Gaulle à la place de la Fontaine. Le magasin qui se trouve au fond (Léon Letellier) marque ce qu'on appelle "l'étoile", c'est-à-dire l'extrémité de la rue des Portes ; sur sa droite, elle aboutit rue Grande-Rue (carrefour avec la rue du Commerce, cette dernière dans le prolongement de la rue du Château). Quant à la petite rue qui débouche à droite (derrière le drapeau tricolore), c'est l'amorce de la rue Notre-Dame. Tout ce quartier a été conservé tel quel, sauf les changements d'enseignes.
