Ces véhicules blindés canadiens se déplacent rapidement pour prendre position lors de la bataille qui a lieu au sud de Caen www.archivesnormandie39-45.org/specificPhoto.php?ref=p004606 La seule unité canadienne à disposer de ce type de matériel (Centaur CS) est celle qui fut créée provisoirement. La 1st Centaur Battery, R.C.A. et ceci au mois d'aout du 6 août au 2 sept. durant 25 jours seulement. Voir ici à partir de la page 31 : 74.125.39.104/search?q=cache:DHjQE6COgC0J:www.geocities.c... pour Operation Paddle, donc rien à voir avec le sud de Caen. Le numéro 41 à l'arrière gauche du char n'est pas à cet endroit un AoS (nombre code). Nous ne pouvons définir l'unité. Il est plus probable que ce soient deux "Centaur" A.27 ou "Cromwell" A.27 M. britanniques, voir ici : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromwell_tank Ils étaient armés (on ne peut le voir sur la photo) soit d'une pièce de 57 mm (canon assez long), soit d'un obusier de 95 mm d'appui rapproché à canon très court avec contrepoids (modèles exposés à Pegasus Bridge et à la Brêche d'Hermanville).voir ici : www.flickr.com/photos/mlq/2847758053/ Il y en avait aussi avec canon de 75 ou affût double de mitrailleuses anti-aériennes. Les Cromwell A27M eux sont présents dans les Armoured Divisions Britanniques en Normandie. Sous réserve il pourrait s'agir du C Squadron du 4th County of London Yeomanry de la 7th Armoured Division partant sur Verrières en début d'après midi le 20 juillet (Operation Atlantic). |
