Summary[edit]

Description Gender, sexuality, and sex symbols based on the Vesica piscis overlapping circles configuration (i.e. two circles of the same diameter, where the center of each circle is on the circumference of the other circle):

Row 1: Male and female (i.e. Mars and Venus) symbols whose circles overlap as a vesica piscis. A male sign of the same proportions.

Row 2: Two female symbols whose circles overlap as a vesica piscis. A female sign of the same proportions.

Row 3: Symbols whose circles overlap as a vesica piscis arranged in such a way as to indicate a man and woman having sex. A female sign of the same proportions with an extra circle, to suggest a pregnant woman.

Right column top: A generalized sexual identity symbol, with Venus lower crosses and Mars upper arrows attached to three circles interlinked in a Borromean rings configuration. Each pair of circles is in a vesica piscis configuration (i.e. the center of each circle is on the circumference of the other).

Right column bottom: Abstract mother and child symbol consisting of two 180° arcs and a 150° arc joined at their endpoints, and also two loops added. The two semicircles intersect to form a vesica piscis shape (i.e. two 120° arcs joined at their endpoints).

Note: A basic unelaborated vesica piscis configuration (two circles, with the center of each on the circumference of the other) could be considered a symbol of marriage (i.e. overlapping wedding rings)...
