Description
English: Antic roman urn in porphyry reused by the comte de Caylus (1692-1765) for his grave in the church of Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois (Paris). He completed it with a modern top curved in a block of antic porphyry. Louvre museum (Paris, France).
Français : Urne romaine antique en porphyre réutilisée par le comte de Caylus (1692-1765) pour faire son tombeau dans l'église de Saint-Germain l'Auxerrois. Il l'avait complétée avec un couvercle moderne taillé dans un bloc de porphyre antique. Musée du Louvre.
