English: Los Angeles, Calif. (Dec. 11, 2006) - Machinist Mate Fireman Larry Shaffer of Chelsea, Okla., assigned to USS Los Angeles (SSN 688), gives a high five to a child being treated at the Los Angeles Children’s Hospital while participating in the Navy’s Caps for Kids program. Crew members from the Los Angeles visited and handed out ball caps and photos of their submarine to almost 50 children on the 6th floor surgery unit. Currently the Los Angeles, based out of Pearl Harbor, is conducting a namesake city visit that is the first port call the submarine has made to the city it was named after.
