Description
English: Boston (Aug. 26, 2005) – Senior Chief Quartermaster Christopher Newland receives a customized naval cutlass from Vice President of the USS Constitution Chapter of the Surface Navy Association, Retired Capt. Gary Mauser, after being named the 2005 George Sirian Service Award winner. The award, presented underway aboard USS Constitution in front of 150 newly selected Chief Petty Officers, recognizes the chief navy-wide who most exemplifies surface warfare excellence. Sirian was a 19th-century Constitution Sailor who rose from the ranks as a seaman to become a warrant officer over his nearly 50-year career. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist 1st Class Matt S.
