Description
English: Newport News, Va. (May 22, 2004) - Deputy Secretary of the Navy Hansford T. Johnson, far right, North Carolina Senator Elizabeth Dole, Navy Nuclear Reactors Director Adm. Frank "Skip" Bowman, Northrop Grumman President Thomas C. Schievelbein and Pre-commissioning Unit (PCU) North Carolina (SSN 777) sponsor Mrs. Linda R. Bowman, watch as Northrop Grumman welder Stanley Britt welds Mrs. Bowman's initials on a metal plate. The plate will be affixed permanently to the stern of the boat.
