Description
English: At sea aboard USS Germantown (LSD 42) Apr. 3, 2002 -- A BQM-74E target drone is readied for launch from the flight deck during the first open ocean Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) test firing by an amphibious ship. RAM is a self-defense system designed to protect the ship against incoming missiles or aircraft. Germantown is forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan. U.S. Navy photo by Journalist 3rd Class Wes Eplen.
