Spencer and Hastings was a portrait studio in Victoria, British Columbia operating between 1882-1889. The studio was run by Stephen Allen Spencer and Oregon Columbus Hastings. Hastings was born in Illinois in 1846 and died in Victoria in 1912. He was the manager of Spencer's private studio in 1874 before becoming his partner in 1882. In 1883 Hastings bought out Spencer from the partnership and continued to run the studio under the same name. Spencer was born in Connecticut in 1829 and died in Victoria in 1911. He moved to Victoria during the Fraser Gold Rush in 1858 to photograph the mines. Spencer also owned the Victoria Theatre Photographic Gallery in Victoria.
