Description
English: Page of national coats of arms and emblems during the late nineteenth century (ca. 1890-1897, as shown by the emblem of Brazil as a republic, not an empire). This is an early test print (it includes registration marks and a color test area at bottom); the color test area would presumably be replaced by a caption during a production print run.

First row: Argentina, Netherlands, Spain, Brazil

Second row: Costa Rica, El Salvador, United States of America, Mexico, Italy

Third row: Portugal, Belgium, Russia, France (pseudo coat of arms), Chile

Fourth row: Austrian empire, Denmark, United Kingdom, Norway, Sweden

Fifth row: Greece, Persia (Iran), Prussia (royal), Prussia (imperial)

The emblems of what the artist or designer probably considered to be the major world powers (US, Russia, UK) are shown in the center of the three middle rows of the chart.
