Toronto Fire Hall 333 was exercising its tall crane, on 2022 11 09. I took about a dozen photos of the beginning of the exercise, from across the street - Front Street East. I crossed the street, and took another dozen photos - the bucket was about 20 metres above the ground. About half an hour later, I took three final photos, from my building's 10th floor. About 40 years ago there was a terrible loss of life in the upper floors of a highrise, in IIRC the Phillippines. Newspaper articles explained that, at that time, fire trucks ladders could reach no higher than the 8th floor, explaining why most of the deaths occurred above the 8th floor. Well, the crane is about 200 metres from my building, and I estimate that bucket is at least 5 storeys higher than I was on the 10th floor |
