English: Portrait of Christina of Lorraine (1565-1637), widow of Ferdinando I de' Medici (1549-1609).
Italiano: "Il dipinto ritrae la granduchessa Cristina di Lorena (1565-1627) figlia di Carlo III di Lorena e Claudia di Francia e moglie di Ferdinando I de' Medici dal 1589. E' ritratta in abiti vedovili, in ginocchio davanti a un libro di preghiere aperto alla pagina di una miniatura raffigurante l'Annunciazione. Il libro è appoggiato alla corona granducale. Di questo ritratto nelle Gallerie fiorentine sono conservate tre versioni (oltre a questa, Imperiale 210 e 1890/ 5254), due delle quali sono caratterizzate dalla veduta di Firenze oltre la finestra. Questa invece presenta una generica veduta di una città sullo sfondo di colline. La versione Imperiale 210 è ritenuta da Karla Langedijk originale di Tiberio Titi. Il terzo dipinto (1890/5254) è una copia documantata di Francesco Bianchi Buonavita del 1618. Il dipinto in esame che spesso è citato come opera della bottega del Titi, secondo Marco Chiarini (Visite reali), è quello che per qualità e stile corrisponde di più alla mano di Tiberio Titi stesso. E' descritto nell'inventario stilato alla morte del cardinale Carlo de' Medici, figlio di Cristina, che forse lo aveva ereditato, come opera di Tiberio Titi" [1]
