| Description | The Tifft House, once among the most luxurious hotels in Buffalo, located on the east side of Main Street between Mohawk Street and Lafayette Square from 1865 until its demolition in 1903 to make way for the new home of the William Hengerer Company department store. A clue to the date of the photograph is found in the advertisement for Geneva Mineral Water on the awning at far left, which was bottled beginning in 1894. The Lafayette Court Building occupies the site today. |
