[printed letterhead: Office of The Palace Hotel]
Guthrie, Oklahoma, July 17,1890.
Dear Miss Longfellow,
I am in this city enjoying a good rest and if it was not so hot I would enjoy it much better. The later part of my years’ teaching past [sic] very pleasantly and was a success. I had sixty two pupils at the close of the term, the largest attendance known. I gained favor of both parents and children and they are very desirous that I should teach this coming year but Miss Folsom says school. School it must be.
[p. 2] The Sac and Fox sold their surplus land for $455.00 and each member receiving 160 acres for an allotment.
I return to Sac and Fox Agency in the morning - My health at presant [sic] is good. Last spring I was very sick that for a while I thought I would not recover. Thomas Miles takes my place as teacher and I return east in Sept or Oct.
Your boy.
