If there is an eczema on the scalp due tohead-lice, the glands in the back of the necknear the roots of the hair will be swollen.Inspectors of schoolchildren invariably ex-amine the back of a childs head near theneck in order to determine the hygiene ofthe scalp. Glands will also swell in manyother diseases which will be described else-where.Tuberculous Tuberculosis frequently shows itself by Glands an enlargement of the glands under the jawand neck. These glands enlarge and remainswollen for months and years even thoughdiseased tonsils and adenoids are removed.There is but one treatment for this condi-tion and that is to remove them. The body must be fortified with the aidof concentrated food, such as milk, cheese,eggs, fruits, and vegetables. Cakes, pies,puddings, and candies should not be given,or only in moderation. To assimilate thefood, fresh air and outdoor life are de-manded. This will sharpen the appetiteand aid digestion. An outdoor life, withporch-sleeping, soothes the nervous systemand promotes sleep. The constant supplyof oxygen taken into the lungs when awakeand during sleep strengthens the blood,gives resistance to the body, and eventuallyhelps to cure the disease.
