The fortress of San Leo, Italy

Summary[edit]

Description
English: In 1631, when the Duchy of Urbino came once more under the direct control of the Papal State, the fortress of San Leo was turned into a prison. The most famous prisoner whose name is linked to the Fortress of San Leo, is Giuseppe Balsamo from Palermo, Count Cagliostro, an eighteenth-century free-mason and alchemist.
