Queen Victoria at Cassiobury the battle of the Boyne, and a large series of dramaticminiatures and valuable pictures. In the groundswere two enormous granite cannon balls which hadbeen fired from the Castle of Abydos, at the entranceof the Dardanelles into the Endymion frigate in1807. Beneath one of them is the following in-scription : These shots of granite, from the ruinsof Alexandria, were fired from the Castle of Abydos,on the Asiatic side of the entrance of the Straitsof the Dardanelles into the Endymion frigate,commanded by the Honble. Captain Bladen Capel,when the Squadron under the command of Sir JohnDuckworth entered the Straits in the year 1807.The larger shot weighs upwards of seven cwt., andwas fired at the distance of a quarter of a mile ;the losses, killed and wounded, 15 men.
