Summary[edit]

Description
English: The bow-bearer of Shah ʿAbbas (either I or II); single-page painting mounted on an album folio. Figure stands against pink ground wearing a green tunic, embroidered turban. Carries sword sheathed in black, triangular shield, bow and quiver. Blue sky and green landscape at top and bottom of image, respectively. Inscribed to right of figure and caption below image. Framed by a gold-speckled beige border with gold scrolling vines; page cut before mounted into album. Album contains 67 Deccani paintings, mostly depictions of named individuals, along with some Hindu gods and goddesses. Ink, opaque watercolour and gold on paper. Album bound in blue-green leather and stamped with Sloane's gilded armorial on front and back cover.
