Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Vikings are coming, Baltasound Uyeasound Up Helly Aa is the second oldest Up Helly Aa ('fire festival') in Shetland, the first celebration being in 1911, about 30 years after the Lerwick Up Helly Aa began. Uyeasound Up Helly Aa is held on a Friday in mid-February, with the Jarl and his squad, dressed as Vikings, making visits around the community during the day. In the evening, the Jarl's squad and other guisers (revellers in fancy dress) undertake a torchlit procession in Uyeasound before burning a galley beside Easter Loch and then retiring to the Uyeasound Hall for the rest of the evening and well into the early hours.
