At that time, no thorough school existed in thiscountry, and it was necessary to begin at the foundationof the work, without i)revious knowledge of the exactmethods to be adopted, or means to be emploved to reachthe desired end. Search, who was President ofthe Textile Association, as well as Vice-President and Chair-man of the Committee on Instruction of the PennsylvaniaMuseum and School of Industrial Art.
