| Description | This complex of retail shops is called The Fairings, originally the building was called The Cinema Palace. The Cinema was built in 1912 and seated 350 persons, it was one of the first purpose built Cinemas in South East England. In 1934 the Cinema was renamed The Electric Palace Cinema when it was acquired by the Shipman and King Company. It was closed in 1937 after the company built the Embassy Cinema in the High Street. The Cinema was later converted into retail shops, the Estate Agent shop was originally the foyer of the Cinema |
