Summary[edit]
DescriptionTelegraph Office Monument - Salt Lake City, Utah - 8 July 2018.jpg |
English: Monument near the site of the former telegraph office in downtown Salt Lake City, Utah. This telegraph office is where, in October 1861, the connection completing the first transcontinental telegraph in the United States was made. The monument was built by the Sons of Utah Pioneers and includes plaques created by artist Ortho R. Fairbanks. It was unveiled on October 18, 1955 at 63 South Main Street–the location of the pole which supported the telegraph wire. Since that time, the monument has been slightly moved and reoriented during construction projects in the area. |
