6ème tapisserie d'un ensemble de 6 tentures consacrées aux 5 sens : le toucher, le goût, l'odorat, l'ouïe, la vue et au renoncement aux plaisirs temporels ("à mon désir"). Tapisserie "à mon seul désir" : 3,77 m par 4,73m Cartons réalisés à Paris 4e quart du 15e siècle; 1er quart du 16e siècle Musée de Cluny, Paris Commentée par l'inscription « À mon seul désir », cette tapisserie (la 6ème de la série) a inspiré de nombreuses hypothèses. Sans exclure une signification dans le registre de l'amour courtois, il pourrait désigner le libre-arbitre : la femme à la coiffe apprêtée et aux vêtements recherchés renonce aux plaisirs temporels. Ces tapisseries « millefleurs » se caractérisent par une flore abondante: fleurs, orangers, pins, houx ou chênes et sont peuplées d'un bestiaire paisible (singe, chiens, lapins, héron). Dans cette nature paradisiaque qui invite à la contemplation, la licorne est tantôt actrice et tantôt simple spectatrice. Accompagnée d'un lion, elle porte sur chaque scène les armoiries de la famille Le Viste. La tenture de la Dame à la licorne a été acquise en 1882. Elle est aujourd'hui considérée comme l'un des grands chefs d'oeuvre de l'art occidental.
