Summary[edit]

Description
English: This picture was taken by me of my two year old daughter. This was taken on the third day after presentation of the rash. The initial stage of the rash appeared to look like chicken pox, the second day it looked like hives, the third day it was varied all over her body, from red and target like, to pink welts, to the purple rash beneath the skin that did not blanch when pressed, as shown in this picture. The suspected, not confirmed, cause of this is a delayed severe allergic reaction to penicillin antibiotics. On Day 9 of the 10 day antibiotic treatment the rash occurred. She is currently being treated with corticosteroids, a controversial treatment, but in light of the consequences of letting it go untreated, I felt it was worth it. She is responding well so far and the rash is disappearing. Another thing to mention is that she was having trouble walking the night before I took her to the doctor. Apparently this syndrome also can affect the joints.Kaleysmom71 19:23, 18 February 2007 (UTC)
