English: A businessman runs from his office (which has a sign saying CLOSED FOR THE DAY), clutching his hat in one hand and his pocket watch in the other, as he wonders whether he can catch the streetcar in time to see the first inning of a baseball game he plans to attend.
Although the caption indicates that this cartoon is set in Tacoma, WA, this was added after the fact by the publishers of the Tacoma Times, to make the cartoon feel more local; in fact, the cartoon was distributed to newspapers subscribing to the Newspaper Enterprise Association. |
