Summary[edit]
DescriptionStandard Oil Company of Indiana - 1 (American Locomotive Company 0-4-0T oil-burning locomotive) (49505870878).jpg |
This is an 0-4-0T oil-burning locomotive on display at the Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado, USA. Text from www.rgusrail.com: This 0-4-0T (Tank) locomotive was one of five built by Alco in 1920 for stock. It was quite a common practice for locomotive builders to manufacture small numbers of standard designs in this way so that they could be quickly delivered to interested purchasers. The 0-4-0T locomotive was also a common type used for switching in industrial plants, and this one was shipped to the Standard Oil Company of Indiana in January 1921 to work at the company's Casper, Wyoming refinery. It transferred to the American Oil Company in 1960 and worked in Casper until 196s, when it was donated to the museum.
