Summary[edit]

Description

Stamp of the United Arab Emirates - Emirate Ras al-Khaima; 1968; commemorative stamp of the series "International Museum Campaign - Art Masterpieces"; As stamp motive is shown a detail of the painting "Danseuse au bouquet salutant sur la scene" (German "Tänzerin mit Blumenstrauß, Verbeugung").; original name of the artist: "Hilaire Germain Edgar de Gas"; This painting is doubtless a result of his USA-travel in 1872/1873.; Its giving many copies of this painting in different museums.; Degas has painted this artwork in 1877/1878 and the original is contempoary located in the "Musée d'Orsay" in Paris (France).; The location on the stamp "Louvre, Paris" is misleading, in the inventar lists of the Louvre is this painting not to find.; A very famous copy is hanging in the "Art Institute of Chicago" (USA); This painting was created in an atelier in Paris and although the artist is calculted with to the French impressionists, Degas has always rejected the "Plain air - painting" of the impressionists.; stamp postmarked by CTO

Public domain This image of a postage stamp from United Arab Emirates is in the public domain both in United Arab Emirates and in other countries adhering to international copyright treaties, because, though the 2002 copyright law of the United Arab Emirates states that such works as stamps are protected for 50 years starting from 1 January of the publication year, the 1992 copyright law (DOC) gave a 25 years copyright protection (starting from the publication date). Therefore all UAE postage stamps printed before 1977 are in public domain.
