Summary[edit]

Description
English: The Space Shuttle Challenger presents a surrealistic impression as it moves through the fog on its way down the 3 ½-mile crawlerway enroute to Launch Pad 39A. The fully assembled Shuttle, weighing 12,000 pounds less than its predecessor Columbia, completed the trip from the Vehicle Assembly Building in shortly over 6 hours. The sixth Shuttle flight, which will be the first for the Challenger, is scheduled for no earlier than January 24, 1983.
