Description

An unusual Poole photo for you today. Our catalogue states that this is the Duke of Devonshire fishing, I presume he is fishing on the Munster Blackwater, unless of course you know something different....

While perhaps still none-the-wiser on the embellishments to today's image, today's contributors (and especially [/photos/91549360@N03/ O Mac], [/photos/gnmcauley/ Niall McAuley], [/photos/beachcomberaustralia/ beachcomberaustralia] & [/photos/33577523@N08/ ofarrl]) have confirmed that this image was likely taken between 1901 and 1908. When Spencer Cavendish was 8th Duke of Devonshire. The consensus is that the image was taken on the Munster Blackwater - if not close to the family's seat at Lismore, then perhaps slightly downstream....
