DescriptionSocial cultures of the Ijaw people.jpg |
English: Virginity by a full grown woman is a wonderful possession. A mark of chaste and moral integrity. And it has to be encouraged especially in this moral decayed society. Especially at a time when sex before marriage is celebrated and seen as a mark of civilization.
Seeing virgin girls who have kept themselves in the midst of sexually perverse society, it gives me hope, it is worth celebrating them.. Because they walk in the open with their breasts, comments are made by some of you as though it is demonic, as though it is evil. All of you who see it like it is evil and demonic are doing so because your eyes have been open to immorality and immoral acts. Its because some of you desecrated and defiled the marriage bed through illicit sexual intercourse, against Gods instruction. Because you did it in the secret does not means the judgement of God is not hanging over your head. It does not mean that you are without sin. So may pretend like one who is did not have premarital sex, but you are surely not without guilt in fornicative or adulterous act. So, Don't judge... The okrika community decides to reenact an old social culture of honouring virgins and their families and empowering them to be engaged to a suitor after they have been honoured and someone in one corner of Igbo land or Yoruba and Hausa would have the effrontery to demonize and disapprove a noble culture of Ijaw people? What arrant nonsense.!!! I would rather suggest a modification to this modus of presentation of the virgins and ask that awards and economically empowering gifts to these virgins and their families. This should be done to encourage other families and their virgin girls to keep their virtue until they are set for a suitor... Its a way of combating the menace of sexual perverseness in Ijaw land. Its a way to encourage our girls to stay chaste and keep their virginity for the good of honour and gifts... I think the whole Ijaw lands should put together a program of this sort as a way of building a strong moral foundation in our communities and clans.... I refer this article to: TAMMY BROWNE
