| Description |
English: Seven ton compressed air hammer, Kirkstall Forge If I remember correctly this was a B & S Massey 7 ton hammer doing die forging of automtive components. This would work equally well on steam or compressed air but all the Kirkstall hammers (there were quite a few) were on compressed air provided by big Belliss & Morcom motor-driven compressors. This was a Saturday morning visit and the natives were friendly. A later visit was arranged with at least one youngish child who is now heavily into traction engines. |
